After serving in VietNam I came back to the US where I did graduate school in education at Stanford. Then I moved to France. I did more graduate work completing all but a dissertation for a doctorate in music. More important to me at the time was my work at the conservatory trying to become a conductor. I ended up at the Conservatory of Toulon where I got artist diplomas in trumpet, conducting and, of all things, acting.
When I returned to the states I was sort of lost for a while. Despite my diplomas, I was not really good enough to earn much of a living as a musician. Eventually, somewhat by a fluke, I ended up back in graduate school to become a psychologist. I'm a much better psychologist than I ever was a musician.
I've lived in Davis for the past 30 years. I was faculty in a Family Practice Residency Program for nearly a decade. It was during that time that I did the Post-Doctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology. I have been active ever since to get prescriptive authority for specially trained psychologists. I was on the board of the state psychological association and was president of the regional psychological association.
Coming out as gay in about 1978, I've never married and never had children, and survived the epidemic. A great many of my friends did not. I had a few relationships along the way but none nearly as good as the one I have now. My partner Richard is an Associate Professor at UC Davis where he does toxicology research. Originally from Argentina, he was educated in England and came to this country 9 years ago.
Internet entrepreneur; www.GayHopper.com I started a website where members of the LGBT community can stay with each other for free when traveling.
