Doug and I grew up together in Burlingame as toddlers and continued our friendship through high school. His mother and mine are still best friends at 99 and 98 respectively!
I remember going to Chuck's Cellar to see Rick Nelson perform there, early 70's! When my date and I got to the door it was" Ian...good to see you" and it was Doug working the door! Besides letting us in for free, spent some time visiting once he was off duty! Saw him a few more times when attending Linda Rondstat and John Stewart concerts at Chucks! Doug was a really good guy and shame left us so soon!
I remember Doug and the good times we all had going to Santa Cruz and watching the guys surf. He was a good person and he enjoyed coming to our house for family BBQ's and watching my Grandpa grill the chickens
I am saddened at his passing as he will always remain in my memories with fondness
Doug and I taught swimming together at the Clyde Devine Swim / Gym.
In 1967, we double dated for the senior prom, stopped by his girlfriend's house for champagne and arrived at the dock just after the ship left.
Does anyone know what caused his death?

Doug provided endless opportunities to avoid paying attention in class. He was so funny. Really brilliant sense of humor.

I believe it was lung cancer, but Kitty will probably know for sure.

He did smoke in those days. So sad. It took him so young
