Gerald R (Gary) Quick

The following article/obituary was published in the Redwood City Tribune/Peninsula Times Tribune on September 12, 1974.  A copy of the article was made available by the San Mateo County Genealogical Society, June, 2016.

"Carlmont graduate killed
     A 26-year-old former Belmont man, Gerald R. (Gary) Quick, was killed early Tuesday when the car he was driving crashed off a coastal highway in Mexico.  He was en route with friends to attend motorcycle races in Ensenada, Mexico.
     Quick was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Yost of 2009 Forest Ave., Belmont...
     Quick, who had been a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff for three years, was taking a short vacation with two other sheriff's deputies to Ensenada when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel and his auto crashed into an embankment.
     Quick was killed instantly.  His passengers...suffered minor injuries.  All three deputies were assigned to the Crescenta Valley substation.
     In addition to his parents, Quick is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Quick of Saugus, Calif.; a brother, Michael Quick of Diamond Bar, Calif., and his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Pettigrew of El Monte, Calif..."

Taken so young...   They said there's three times our classmates dies...YOUNG from car accidents.... in our 40s from heart attacks... and later with cancers....   So far I've been lucky enough to miss these ...PRESENTLY
